Sport NZ and Sport Waikato are conscious that Covid-19, and the associated restrictions imposed under the Covid Protection Framework, particularly in the Red setting, is impacting the range and accessibility of physical activity options for our tamariki and rangatahi.

Given the Tu Manawa fund has been established to respond to the needs of these groups by supporting innovative play, active recreation and sport opportunities for our children and young people, we have simplified the application process and introduced the 'Snap Round' for smaller and shorter projects to ensure a wide range of easily accessible activities can be supported.  This application process enables organisations to respond quickly and simply to the gap in activity provision.

The normal Tu Manawa processes will continue for applications, but this new Snap Round application form will have a lower maximum ($5000), fewer questions to answer, and a faster turnaround from application to decision. The intent of this approach is to get lots of activity happening in your community, for as many young people as we can, while the world works its way through the current disruption.

Alongside this, the Community Activation Fund for projects up to $50,000 has now been extended to 29 April 2022.

To find out more about the funds, or to apply, go to https://www.sportwaikato.org.nz/about-us/funding/tu-manawa-active-aotearoa-fund.aspx

If you're not sure whether you might fit the criteria, fill out the Expression of Interest form and one of our team will be in touch. For any queries, contact tumanawa@sportwaikato.org.nz
