Programme Overview

Imagine a safe pregnancy movement programme that doesn’t require any equipment and teaches you to use and move your changing body in a more intelligent, effective and efficient way. Imagine that during this programme you also explore the repertoire of movements and positions you will benefit from on the day of delivery.

That's what happens when you do Movement for Pregnancy & Labour with Alina: a 6 weeks programme running on a term basis at River Ridge East Birth Centre (Hamilton East).

WHEN: Thursdays 6:20-7:30 pm, one 6 weeks block course each school term
WHERE: River Ridge East Birth Centre, 35 Puutikitiki St, Hamilton East
COST: $130 for the whole 6 weeks course, including audio recordings of the movement lessons.

Mats, balls, cushions and blankets are provided. During these sessions, you will go through gentle and safe movement sequences, bringing special awareness to your sensations. This will help alleviate pregnancy aches and discomforts without straining your joints and muscles. You will also explore the repertoire of movements and positions you will benefit from on the day of delivery.

This programme will help you make your pregnancy and childbirth easier, because:
👉 You will move with awareness and adapt your movement to your needs
👉 You will be able to release the unnecessary effort
👉 You will know how to listen to your body
👉 You will have experience with positions and movements, often unusual, that women tend to choose at each stage of delivery
👉 You will know how to protect your pelvic floor
👉 You will understand how pain works so that you have more and better strategies to cope with it.

To help you make a decision about this programme, here is our curriculum:

Week 1️⃣ - Meet your adaptable pelvis. Rolling like a baby
Week 2️⃣ - Pelvic openings: your baby's journey. Pelvic mobility, Pelvic floor in sitting
Week 3️⃣ - Meet your powerful team: Perineum / Diaphragm. Move your rib basket
Week 4️⃣ - Star labour positions. Moving on all four
Week 5️⃣ - Using the ball for movement. Pain in labour and the best ways to approach it
Week 6️⃣ - It's all about the hip joints. Vocalising for your pelvic floor and perineum: in birth and beyond.
