Born in Taranaki, I have spent time living mainly in the Bay of Plenty, Wellington and Waikato before settling in Hamilton. After leaving school and working in a range of administrative roles, I eventually pursued a long-held passion to work with children and “returned to school”, obtaining my Bachelor of Education (Teaching-Primary) in 2003. Having enjoyed teaching for more than 15 years across the Waikato, I joined the Sport Waikato whaanau in August 2019 after being appointed as Education Lead for Taakaro-ora – Active Wellbeing.
I am excited about being able to use my primary school teaching experience and connections in my role within the Taakaro-ora -Active Wellbeing team by working collaboratively with teachers within Te Pae Here Kaahui Ako (North East Hamilton Community of Learning), to strengthen and enhance the wonderful teaching and learning they already offer their tamariki.
I have a passion for sport and wellbeing, and have a range of interests outside of work which predominantly include sport, exercise and/or spending time with family and friends.
