Born and bred in Waipa, I have been part of the Sport Waikato team since early 2013. I have a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Physical Education and Health). Following a short stint of teaching and five years working with the Energize Team, I have recently taken on a new role as the Manager for Taakaro-ora – Active Wellbeing.
Taakaro-ora – Active Wellbeing will bring together concepts of the Sport NZ initiative Play.sport alongside Project Energize. This is an exciting opportunity to bring together a passionate team who will work with the schools and communities of the Te Pae Here Kaahui Ako (North East Hamilton Community of Learning).
Taakaro-ora – Active Wellbeing aims to build a sustainable system where children and young people will have quality, fun, challenging and inspiring physical activity, sport and health and physical education experiences that support them to be active, engaged, learning and succeeding.
I am really looking forward to seeing the positive impact Taakaro-ora – Active Wellbeing can bring to both schools and their communities, and by working collaboratively how we can strengthen existing programmes and initiatives.
In my spare time I love to be active in the outdoors - running, mountain biking and getting to the beach with my two energetic dogs!
