Waipa District
CAMBRIDGE and TE AWAMUTU: Harlequin Swim School

The best investment you can make in your child’s future.

Babies 6 months – 1 year
The parent or caregiver needs to get in with their babies at this level. We help parents and babies get comfortable in the water. First step is to show the parent, or caregiver how to hold their baby in the water, so that both of them feel comfortable and relaxed. We employ various games to get the babies used to having water splashed on their faces. This level concentrates on building up water confidence.

Advanced Babies: 1-2years and 2-3 years.
The parent or caregiver needs to get in with their babies at this level. We follow the same lesson format as before but more is expected in the propulsive skill area, due to greater physical development.

Preschool level 1,2 and 3
Preschool classes are divided by age groups 3yrs and 4yrs. Preschool Level 1: Is aimed at children who have never been in water before. We work on gaining water confidence and the basic techniques as outlined with the baby classes. Preschool Level 2: For children who are water confident and are able to put their head under the water but aren’t able to float and kick on their own. Preschool Level 3: For students who have mastered the basics and are now ready to learn to swim freestyle and backstroke.
