Hi I'm Kerin McDonald

I come from a very active and sporty background which continues to this day. Along with a number of outdoor pursuits, kayaking, rock climbing and tramping, I'm involved with athletics as a middle distance runner competing here in New Zealand as well as in Europe. Any physical activity is fair game though, from squash, tennis or lawn bowls, to triathlons, ultimate frisbee or pilates.

Born in Hamilton, I've spent a number of years traveling overseas, living the dream of following summers. I spent eight summers in the States working in a summer camp helping develop their programmes and starting up a leadership course for 16-18 year olds. After a couple of seasons guiding on the Queen Charlotte and Heaphy Track, I then spent three years as an instructor at Outward Bound in Anakiwa. 

My involvement with Sport Waikato started as the Secondary Schools Event Coordinator and I'm now loving this new role based in Waipa. I am keen to help continue Sport Waikato’s great reputation that is active and supportive towards health, sport, exercise and recreation.
