Help Sport Happen

Roseanne Murray

Sport Development Manager

Mark McLaughlin

Sport Development Advisor

Sport Waikato encourages people to play and volunteer in sport. From children’s to veteran’s sport, involvement has a number of benefits:

  • Exercise and health
  • Social skills and communication
  • Team work
  • Problem solving
  • Leadership
  • Taking on challenge

Sport Waikato recognises that sport is driven by dedicated volunteers like coaches, officials, administrators, coordinators and teachers. Our role is to guide and support volunteers. Clubs, schools and regional sporting organisations are encouraged to ask for our assistance. We can assist by:

  • Providing ideas and templates
  • Facilitating brainstorming meetings
  • Coordinating workshops and courses for volunteers
  • Facilitating club planning and development

Sport Waikato’s newsletters are sent out to contacts in clubs and schools. It’s a great way to keep up to date with opportunities and news from SPARC and other organisations. During November and December, Sport Waikato runs a series of sports awards, a celebration of sport for the year.
